Riyadh, April 1 -- (Wang Kai) On March 30, local time, the world's largest single reverse osmosis seawater desalination project -- Saudi Arabia labiag phase III seawater desalination project commissioning ceremony was held at the project site. The project was constructed by Shandong Power Construction No. 3 Company under Power China, and was completed and put into operation 2 months in advance.
Using the world's advanced reverse osmosis technology, the project can produce 600,000 cubic meters of water per day and provide basic water for more than 2 million households in Jeddah, Mecca and other major cities in Saudi Arabia every day. During the construction period, the project provided more than 3,500 local jobs, purchased local equipment and materials, accounting for 40% of the total materials, directly contributed about $200 million to the LOCAL GDP, and promoted the economic growth of Saudi Arabia.
As the world's largest single reverse osmosis desalination plant, the project has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and nominated for the Saudi Province of Mecca 2021 Economic Excellence Award and Construction Innovation Award.
